The Obermeyer brand embodies all the quintessential attributes of classic German engineering, durable craftsmanship, cutting-edge design, and superior quality. Obermeyer was founded by Klaus Obermeyer in 1961 in Aspen, Colorado, after 12 years on the mountain working as a ski instructor. With years of industry skiwear insight, Obermeyer began to invent cutting-edge ski equipment, skiwear, and ski accessories out of his attic. His first ski wear design was the down ski parka stitched together from his goose down comforter. Obermeyer is credited with inventing high-altitude suntan lotion, turtlenecks, nylon wind shirts, mirrored sunglasses, the Boot Fit Press to name a few. The Tales of Klaus are legendary! At 102 he still lives, skis, and contributes to his company, still located in Aspen, Colorado.
